The Bed Scarf Finished

I took the last stitch. The bed scarf is finished and on the bed. Considering that the RIME Quilt and the Bed Scarf were made a couple of decades apart, they go pretty well together.

This was a long road. It is the first major piece that I machine quilted. I used skills I learned at Carftsy classes with 3 different teachers including Leah Day, and also from Leah Day's videos on her web site.

I don't think I could have done it without both of those sources because there isn't any place local that I could have found a teacher.

The Internet truly does change everything.

  3. It's beautiful! I so agree re the internet... I'm just finishing up my 1st of several Craftsy classes and am gearing up for some FMQ practice over the next week. I've never made a bed scarf but love that idea! I get too bored to make a king sized quilt and my DH is very hard on bed linens so it could be trouble if I were to find a Sharpie scribble or highlighter swipe on my prized quilt!

  6. Your bed scarf looks wonderful and it really does go with the other quilt. I am learning FMQ almost exclusively from Leah and the internet. Seems to be working, and it's free.

Thanks for your very kind comments on my quilt! :)

  7. Your bed scarf is really beautiful. Great job on the quilting. I too am learning from online instructors and Craftsy classes. Spend more time online than I do at my sewing machine!

  8. What fun to see the bed scarf in situ. The difference between the quilting on the wall hanging and the bed scarf is noticeable. I see lots of growth. You should be very proud.

  10. Hello, Stella! Your pieces are awesome! I have loved those color combos for a long time and the bed scarf piecing is set off so perfectly with your arrangement choices. This year (actually, just since last Spring) has been "leaps and bounds" movement forward for my FMQ, also, thanks to Leah Day, Wendy Shepard (IvorySpring), Cindy Needham, Diane Gaudynski, Karen McTavish and so many others. I absolutely love this "internet thing" as a learning tool and all the bloggy friendships that have developed. Since retirement (almost 2 years ago) I have had the opportunity to really pursue the quilting more and am loving it! So glad you stopped by my blog, also!!! Blessings and hugs, Doreen

  12. Your bed scarf looks wonderful, Stella! Really dresses up the bed nicely. And if by RIME quilt you mean the quilt hanging over your bed, then yes it does match quite well!
I also wanted to thank you for the lovely comment you left on my blog this morning for my fabric wallet. I'm sure I'll find some fusible interface if I look more for it, and you can betcha I'm gonna be getting all the different weights when I find it! I don't know why they didn't have it at the fabric store I went to. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
