What's on my needles?

Believe it or not a pair of socks!

I wanted to learn how to make socks from the cuff down. I'd played with magic needle. The Craftsy class was toe up and on 5 dp needles. I only have sets of 4 and I didn't want toe up. I'll go back to that class later.

I found a different class online at http://knitfreedom.com/ that taught cuff down, magic needle and two at a time. I've always knit sleeves or fronts two at a time so making the socks that way makes sense. I am having some problems with the magic loop stuff, but I'll survive. I've cast on and knit two rounds mostly while watching the class videos.

She is a good teacher.

  1. I should try this video. I bought a magic loop but havent tried using it yet. Looks like you've got it down.

  2. I think it's a good idea to do the two together. These are going to be lovely. You've chosen very nice wool :)

  4. This isn't about knitting, but I just finished ordering things from Leah Day's site. Thanks for the tip about 365 Quilt Patterns. I ended up ordering that, the book for beginners: From Daisy to Paisly, the bobin thingamajiggys and the Queen Slider. I'm very excited since I stopped taking quilts to the LA. It's just so expensive. The exception is my son and his wife's Double Wedding Ring. Thanks for mentioning that wonderful resource in machine quilting!

  6. Good luck with the socks, lovely shades in the yarn. I knit my socks on 3dpn - don't think I could manage to do both at the same time and on a circular needle.

  7. I'm going to try my 1st pair of socks as soon as my circular needles arrive this week! My book calls for 2 separate needles - one 16" and the other 24". Hope I'm not in over my head.
